At Werkstatt Provost, bodywork is more than a surface-level concern—it’s a meticulous, foundational process. Every build begins here, where structural integrity, visual alignment, and period correctness are restored or reimagined with care.
Every restoration begins with a full teardown and inspection. We strip the body to bare metal and assess all structural integrity. Corroded or damaged areas are cut out and replaced using factory-correct techniques. This includes panel fabrication, realignment, media blasting, chemical treatment, and anti-corrosion sealing—providing a rock-solid foundation for the stages to follow.
Once structural corrections are complete, we focus on precise panel alignment and any bespoke body modifications. This includes gap setting, fitment correction, and, where desired, body widening, backdating, or bumper conversions. Whether restoring factory geometry or tailoring the silhouette, this stage ensures the Porsche’s lines are clean, consistent, and purposeful.
Once all metalwork and customization are complete, the body undergoes comprehensive paint preparation. This includes block sanding, primer layering, sealing, and surface refinement. Whether applying a factory-correct color or a custom finish, we ensure depth and gloss throughout a process that reflects our commitment to original Porsche standards.
The final phase restores the vehicle to full form. We reassemble doors, roof systems, wiring, lights, and seals—paying obsessive attention to alignment, fit, and surface protection to complete the visual and structural integrity of the car.
Targa and Cabriolet models introduce a unique set of bodywork challenges that go beyond standard coupe construction. We restore and refit targa bars, removable roof panels, soft tops, and convertible mechanisms with a focus on fitment, sealing, and longevity. From structural repairs and refinishing to precise seal alignment and tensioning, we ensure that open-top Porsches retain both their functionality and weather protection—without compromising originality or comfort.
