FAQ

What types of Porsche models do you specialize in?

We specialize in Porsche 911 models from the mid-1960s to the late 1990s, covering iconic generations such as the 911 F-Modell, early G-Modell (pre-1985 for the Philippines), 964, and 993.

Our work extends across notable variants, including the Carrera, Carrera RS, Carrera 4S, Targa, and Turbo.

In Europe, we provide full restorations, mechanical work, and performance upgrades for all air-cooled 911s up to the 993, as well as select classic water-cooled models.

In the Philippines, due to import regulations, our focus is on Porsche 911 models from the 1960s to 1984, covering the F-Modell and early G-Modell (up to 1984).

While our primary dedication lies in classic 911 models, we selectively take on other Porsche projects if they align with our vision and philosophy.

Do you offer international services?

Werkstatt Provost is primarily based in Belgium, where our main workshop and operations are located. While we are a Belgian-based specialist, we also conduct cross-border business with surrounding countries such as France, Luxembourg, Germany, and the Netherlands, particularly for part sourcing, vehicle purchases, and select client projects.

Beyond our core operations in Belgium and neighboring regions, we are in the process of expanding to the Philippines, where we aim to bring our expertise to a growing community of Porsche enthusiasts. While this expansion is still ongoing, it represents the next step in our commitment to delivering high-quality restoration and maintenance services internationally.

How is importation and exportation of parts and vehicles handled?

All importation and exportation of vehicles and parts are conducted in full compliance with applicable regulations.

In Belgium, we primarily source parts and occasionally vehicles from neighboring countries such as France, Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. All imports are legally documented and processed according to local tax and trade regulations.

For the Philippines, we adhere strictly to national import laws, ensuring all transactions meet the necessary legal requirements.

Notably, the Vintage Vehicle Regulation Act (Republic Act No. 11698) allows for the importation of vintage vehicles and their parts, defining vintage vehicles as those manufactured at least 40 years prior to the current year. This legislation enables the legal importation of classic Porsche models that meet the criteria.

To ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, we work with experienced customs professionals, legal consultants, and specialized logistics firms who handle the necessary documentation and procedures. Every step of the process is carried out transparently and in accordance with both Belgian and Philippine import-export regulations.

How long does a full restoration typically take?

The timeline for a full Porsche restoration can range from a few months to several years, depending on multiple factors.

• The condition of the base car plays a significant role—vehicles in better structural shape may progress faster, while those requiring extensive repairs or rust rehabilitation demand significantly more time.

• The scope and scale of the restoration also impact the timeline. A concours-level, period-correct rebuild often requires more attention to detail than a standard mechanical overhaul.

Parts availability is another crucial factor. Some components are readily accessible, while others—especially rare or discontinued Porsche parts—may take months to source or even require custom fabrication.

• The level of customization requested by the client can further extend the timeline. Projects involving one-off modifications, performance upgrades, or bespoke interior work require additional design, engineering, and testing phases.

Because every restoration is unique, we provide individualized project assessments to outline realistic timeframesbased on the vehicle’s condition, the requested work, and the complexity of sourcing parts.

Can I customize my restoration?

Yes, Werkstatt Provost offers customization options, but our philosophy remains deeply rooted in preserving the essence of Porsche’s original design and engineering. While we can accommodate modifications, we always guide clients toward builds that stay true to Porsche’s DNA—ensuring that any enhancements respect the car’s heritage, proportions, and engineering principles.

For example, swapping a period-correct engine within the 911 lineup or integrating model-specific components can be a way to personalize a build while maintaining its authenticity. However, we do not undertake extreme modifications that compromise the fundamental identity of the car. Our goal is to deliver refined, era-appropriate restorations that honor Porsche’s original vision while allowing for tasteful personalization.

Each project is approached with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that any custom work is thoughtfully executed and seamlessly integrated—resulting in a car that feels as if Porsche itself might have built it.

How do you source rare parts?

Finding a rare part isn’t just a transaction—it’s about knowing the right people, searching in the right places, and having the patience and experience to track down what others might struggle to find. Sometimes, it means sourcing from long-standing collections or locating parts from vehicles that are no longer on the road. Other times, it’s working with craftsmen who can accurately reproduce discontinued components when original pieces are no longer available. If a part is still out there, we’ll do everything we can to track it down. And if it isn’t? We’ll look at restoring, fabricating, or adapting an original piece while staying true to the car’s authenticity.

Do you work with racing teams?

Over the years, we have collaborated with esteemed drivers such as Jean-Marc Gaban, a two-time Belgian Rally Champion, and Christian Guillemin. Our partnerships involved preparing and maintaining various Porsche models, including Jean-Marc Gaban’s 993 RS and Christian Guillemin’s 964 NGT Rallye, for multiple events such as Champions Day at Spa-Francorchamps.

Through these collaborations, we have gained extensive experience in setting up and fine-tuning race-ready Porsches, ensuring they perform at their peak in competitive environments. While we have stepped back from direct racing involvement in recent years, we remain committed to motorsport and are actively exploring opportunities to return with renewed passion and expertise.

Do you offer warranties or guarantees on your services?

Yes, we offer warranties and guarantees tailored to the specific service or parts provided. For example, new parts often come with manufacturer warranties, while refurbished or revised parts are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. We strive to provide assurances wherever feasible, ensuring confidence and satisfaction in our work.
